Every store front and shop had one, and the lined the streets. I never really considered myself to really decorate for summer holidays, but I find I’m usually hanging my flags by memorial day, and keeping them out until Labor Day.Īs a kid I always used to love going to the beach in the summer and all the coastal towns would put out their American flags. In years past I’ve hung a wooden american flag I made on our porch as well, and loved the statement it made when pulling up to our house. I’ve even used them as decor around a classic summer dessert (seen below). I picked up these smaller American flags for $1 a piece, and love tucking them in to planters, or around our outdoor spaces. It doesn’t take too much to add a patriotic feel here or there. It felt so patriotic and instantly I felt transported back to a simpler time. Nothing feels more like being in the heart of summer than celebrating the fourth of July! We were sitting on a back porch yesterday, at a 4th of July BBQ, and I happened to catch a glimpse of a truck driving by with a large American flag mounted to the back.
